It’s an old farming expression that refers to the lower 40 acres or remote portion of one’s property. We like its agricultural roots and that it connects  us to a slower and more simple way of life.

• S40 bars are ‘taste forward’ not ‘function forward.’ Translation: We are taste obsessed, not protein obsessed, so we don’t use highly processed ingredients like protein powder, egg whites or nut butters. We believe the market research suggesting that taste, not function, is consumers’ most important consideration when they purchase bars.

Real, whole, premium tree nuts are our core ingredient with most of our bars. We don’t equalize our costs by adding peanuts and almonds (lesser expensive nuts).  We also don’t add date paste, rice crisps, or nut butters which are common and inexpensive fillers used in bars that also makes them chewy and taste the same. Also, many other nut bars equalize their costs by adding peanuts and almonds (some of the lesser expensive nuts with a little bit of premium nuts.

In one word – Crunchy. Most bars are chewy and some are chewy and crunchy. Some nuts are harder than others, but all our bars are crunchy which is a key differentiator. 

65% nuts is a measure of nuts per gram. Our bars are 40 grams which means that there are 26g of nuts in each bar! This gives S40 Crunchy Nut Bars more healthy fats, more vitamins, and more minerals than in many other leading nut bars, and more protein than other bars unless they are adding protein powder.

Our nut bars range from 4 to 7 grams of protein. Except for our hazelnut bar which comes in at 4 grams, all the others are considered a “good source” of protein, up there with grains and seeds, meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and dairy foods.

The total sugar content in our nut bars is 11-12 grams. Some people may consider this too high, but we encourage you to compare to other bars that don’t use date paste as a binder and key ingredient. We are committed to using as little sugar as possible, but honey alone doesn’t do the trick without ending up with a very sticky bar. We are investigating swapping organic brown rice syrup with glucose syrup which we currently use as a liquid sweetener. Our glucose syrup while made from corn should not be confused with high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). We do not use and are not contemplating using artificial sweeteners, sugar alternatives, or sugar alcohols.

None of our products are made with genetically engineered ingredients and the Non-GMO Project seal appears on all of our nut bars (or will very soon with updated packaging).

While our facility contains several allergens, we separate the major allergens to prevent cross-contamination. Furthermore, we thoroughly clean the equipment between processing runs, and perform swab testing to ensure there is no cross- contamination. Still, we highly recommend that if you have an allergy to peanuts, tree nuts, or sesame products, that you read our allergen statements on the packaging carefully and proceed with caution.

3. At the login page, click "Create Account". When creating your account, make sure to use the same email address that you used when you purchased seeds and began your subscription.
4. Once you're successfully logged into your account, on the right side of the screen, under your name, you will see a link titled "Manage Subscriptions".
5. From there, you can easily edit your shipping address, delivery frequency, product quantity, billing information, review past purchases, or cancel your subscription.
